Hey professor Larry,

I MISS YOU SO MUCH and writing this with tears in eyes...

I still have your photos and videos and watch them whenever I need to get motivated, dedicated, happy, and straiten my life and path. You thought me a programmer doesn't sleep for nights still functioning happily and this is how your course was.

I am a student who was kicked out from schools 11 times during his 12 years of diploma so was forced to change states to get accepted for the next year. A student who could never sit still for more than 10 minutes and always the greatest pain for all teachers. A student who still asks tens of questions in one class session and frustrates the professors. A hyper ADHD so called rebel student with never ending desire of learning, evolving the environment, challenging, revolting, and always looking for shortcuts due to extreme laziness yet with one of the most comprehensive resumes out there.

One day I told you, professor, I am so lazy. I make template for all my codes. You told me with that most beautiful big warm smile, "Ray (Reza), you're not lazy; you're efficient." You moved my heart. Another day after asking you so many annoying questions, I raised my hand again, you said, "Ray shut up! I won't answer your question :)))" All the class including myself were laughing so hard for minutes for your reaction. After a few minutes you finished the subject turned to me and said, "Now ask your precious question." I always had some questions left so the college would kick us out and close the doors. You still would use the street trashcan as a desk for our laptops and drain all my questions out. One day you said in class, "Ray, if you wouldn't have asked these questions, we wouldn't learn a lot of these new things so thank you." It was enough to differentiate your value from the hundreds of former and current teachers of mine. I have a lot more to say but have to keep it short so you don't get annoyed again by me haha. At the end of the semester you were reading a letter of a former student and crying. We were all regretting why the semester is over. I don't wanna graduate I just want to remain in your class. So I took another class with you which was not provided by the collage.

I filmed you a lot of times, sorry you didn't know, but I had to keep somethings of your reality, character and classes for the world for the time you would go a bit further away from us. There are somethings in anyone's life that they wouldn't care if they get into legal troubles. That's been one of mine and I never regret it EVER. I wish I did more actually!

Please remember! YOU'RE NOT DEAD TO ME!
You are not just a professor. YOU ARE A PRECIOUS TANZANITE!

Oh I almost forgot to ask you a question!
Why are you using this syntax in line 777 of your code?!
Why did your class start from 40 students and ended with only 8?
Oops, I said one question? Sorry now it's 3 :D

Best Wishes,
Ray (Reza Taba your Persian-Iranian/American student)

Larry was the reason I got started in Computer Science...I am really heart broken to find out he passed. I wish his family and friends only the best and to remember how warm and excited he was in helping his students and appreciating an understanding of his teachings. I truly feel blessed to be able to learn from this man, and I hope those that did carry the torch in C.S. while remembering the roots that Larry provided. Bless his family and his soul and I will forever be grateful for what I was able to learn from him.

Professor Forman was one of the most wonderful and engaging professors I have ever met. He helped me to find my place here in San Diego, and for that I am forever grateful to him. I have so many wonderful memories of him, from the time he got mad at me for hijacking the printer in the class to print someone's homework, to the time he brought pizza for everyone for the final day. He stayed late that day, just like he always did when someone needed help - 3 hours after class ended, and he was still there, refusing to leave until the very last person was done. That's just the kind of guy he was - he always had time to help and to lend an ear. You will be missed, Professor. Thank you, for everything.

He was one of the best professor ever. Without him I would have never found my passion for programming. He showed me that I could make video games. I will always remember those pizzas you would bring at the day of the final ( I took 5 classes with him.)
Thank you for everything Larry. I still stop by your office every now and then to see if you're in a good mood for a quick chat.

May the winds of the Kami spirit world carry you to where you would wish to be, old friend. It was my good fortune to be with you at the beginning and to know you again at the end. My condolences to your family and friends. The world is a poorer place without you.
